The OXEC and OXEC II Hydroelectric Plants are located in the municipality of Santa María Cahabón, Alta Verapaz.
There are 11 communities in the area of influence of OXEC and OXEC II:
- By road, the nearest is 3 miles away and the furthest 19 miles away
- 9 are upstream the tributary
- 2 are upstream the Cahabón
- Semuc Champey is 25 miles upstream from the Cahabón
OUR OPERATION
Consultation Process
OXEC is the first hydroelectric plant to carry out a consultation process in Guatemala within the framework of ILO 169 Convention.

Focuses on the improvement of health conditions of residents of the 11 communities in the area of influence of the hydroelectric plants.

Seeks to strengthen the cognitive abilities of the school-age population to positively impact the teaching-learning process.

Seeks to reinforce knowledge and improve the income level of farmers through the school - cardamom company, Green Heart.
